Nature-Inspired Design
There's an ever-growing focus on nature-inspired design. Bringing the outside into your interiors comes with countless benefits, from mindfulness to enduringly stylish designs.
A Unique Approach by Becky Shea
Interior designer Becky Shea took a different approach with this project, a newly built home surrounded by mountain views. The layout maximizes the views while creating a cozy, modern organic feel.
Seamless Integration with Nature
Becky explains, "This home is a brand new build, but before it came to life, it was this stunning, untouched two-acre plot of land. The property has incredible natural beauty. The backdrop really set the tone for everything."
Overcoming Challenges
Starting from scratch came with challenges, including rocky terrain that delayed excavation. However, Becky saw the bright side, stating, "What could have been a setback became one of the most beautiful, defining elements of the home."
Stunning Exterior Design
The exterior design is truly remarkable, featuring reclaimed weathered wood from the Hudson Valley and locally sourced stone that ties the home to its natural surroundings.
Thoughtful Interior Touches
With the build complete, the focus shifted to interiors. Becky aimed for a cozy, lived-in feel, balancing transitional design with organic modernism to create a welcoming atmosphere.
Emphasizing Indoor-Outdoor Living
The home features large windows that create unique vantage points and allow for a seamless indoor-outdoor feel. Becky emphasizes, "The windows frame the surrounding landscape beautifully, almost like artwork in every room."
Cohesive Color Palette
The color palette throughout the home includes neutrals, earthy hues, and deep blues, creating cohesion while balancing contemporary design with organic finishes.
Distinctive Spaces
Becky highlights the kitchen and office lounge as standout spaces, each thoughtfully designed with unique details that reflect the overall theme of warmth and authenticity.
Personal Touches
The mudroom adds a cozy, practical element with a hidden steel doggy door, showcasing the personal touches that make the home feel lived-in.
This home is a beautiful example of how designing with the natural landscape can lead to a cohesive and inviting living space.
