The Video Editor plays a critical role in our Marketing, Content, and Communications teams, serving as a creative force behind the development of high-impact Hero Content and the consistent delivery of weekly videos. This role is responsible for not only Conceptualizing, strategizing, editing, and uploading video assets, but also ensuring each piece is optimized for discovery, through strategic tagging, creator linking, and platform-specific enhancements. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the editor will help shape how our brand is represented through video, bringing storytelling to life in a way that resonates with audiences and drives meaningful engagement.
To excel in this role, you need a blend of creative thinking to generate innovative ideas, strategic thinking to plan effectively, and a solid marketing aptitude to understand and implement successful strategies. The ideal candidate is trend-aware, technically skilled, and results-driven, constantly testing titles, thumbnails, and video structures to increase click-through and conversion rates, without resorting to misleading tactics. They are accountable for ensuring all content remains on brand and aligned with campaign goals, while also providing performance insights and recommendations that improve future content delivery. As a key member of our creative team, the video editor contributes to the ongoing evolution of our visual identity and plays an essential part in turning viewers into loyal, paying customers.
Main Responsibilities:Video Production & Editing
- Conceptualize, Edit, and Deliver video content to support monthly themes, site launches, creator features, contests, and special events.
- Assist with the editing and & monitoring of SFW and NSFW variations of mainstream video content, ensuring proper handling and platform compliance for sites like YouTube.
Content Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all videos meet brand and platform standards, including:
- Integration of action tags and branded pre-roll/post-roll calls-to-action (CTA).
- Proper watermarking and addition of English subtitles when applicable.
- Tagging and linking creators to our platform, and confirming consent is received and securely stored.
Content Optimization & Distribution
- Produce cut-down versions of video content for social media distribution.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to align content with monetization goals and audience engagement strategies.
Reporting & Collaboration
- Deliver monthly performance reports highlighting key video metrics and channel growth.
- Participate in creative and brand meetings, contributing ideas and feedback to enhance content strategy and viewer engagement.
Role Requirements:
- 2 – 5 years video editing experience.
- Post-secondary education in film, broadcast, new media or equivalent field or relevant work experience.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Premiere Pro CC, Photoshop).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, willing to coordinate/manage own time efficiently.
- Experience with all aspects of Practical video production a plus.
- Must be able to follow style guides including brand communication guidelines
- Encode final project video files for various uses.
- Manage project assets (footage, graphics, audio, etc.) from capture/creation through archiving.
- Strong technical and video problem-solving skills (frame rates, mixing interlaced and progressive footage, composition, color correction).
- Advanced motion graphics skills.
- Skilled in layout and graphic design as it relates to graphic packages (graphic openings/name keys etc.).
- Achievement oriented; must be able to juggle multiple tasks, tight deadlines and changing priorities.
- Self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent English (team members are in Toronto, Canada)
- Available Part time (4h/day) with a possibility of full-time after 3 months.
Preferred Experience for Video Editor (Creative, Trend-Focused)
- Strong portfolio of engaging short-form videos (TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts)
- Proven ability to develop and execute creative, out-of-the-box video concepts
- Deep knowledge of current social media trends, audio, and editing styles
- Excellent visual storytelling skills using pacing, sound, text, and transitions
- Proficient in editing tools (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut, CapCut, etc.)
- Skilled in adapting & creating content for 9:16 vertical format
- Fast, adaptable, and responsive to feedback and performance data
- Collaborative mindset; comfortable working in creative teams and fast-paced environments
