Lead Designer (Product & Brand)

Planetary Talent is recruiting a Lead Designer for an ambitious AI startup operating at the forefront of agent-based systems and decentralized infrastructure. This stealth-mode company is building the foundation for how autonomous AI agents collaborate, transact, and scale across the internet.

We're searching for a designer who can craft a world-class product experience *and* build a truly modern, inspiring brand. As Lead Designer, you’ll be responsible for everything from high-fidelity UI design to brand identity and visual storytelling. This is a rare opportunity to own design at a foundational stage—shaping the look, feel, and experience of a product that’s defining an entirely new category.

You'll collaborate directly with the founders and core engineering team to transform complex technical ideas into elegant, intuitive, and highly usable designs. If you’re excited about leading design at a startup pushing the edge of AI and infrastructure, this is your role.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the company’s brand identity—logo, typography, color system, visual language, and overall creative direction
• Design and maintain a consistent, scalable design system across product UI and marketing
• Lead end-to-end UI/UX design for a technically complex but user-focused product
• Collaborate with engineers and product leads to ensure design is implemented flawlessly
• Translate abstract technical concepts into clear, accessible, and beautiful interfaces
• Create assets for web, product, investor materials, social, and launch campaigns
• Build and mentor a small team of designers and contractors as the company grows
• Advocate for design excellence, user-centric thinking, and innovation across the organization

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in UI/UX and brand design, preferably at a startup or high-growth company
• A portfolio that shows exceptional craft in both interface design and brand identity
• Strong fluency with modern design tools (Figma, Illustrator, etc.) and design systems
• Ability to work autonomously and take ideas from concept to production with minimal direction
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and leadership teams
• Strong visual storytelling skills with a sharp eye for detail and consistency
• Excellent communication skills, both visually and verbally
• Experience designing for technical or developer-facing products

Nice To Have

• Previous experience at an early-stage startup, especially in web3, AI, or infrastructure tech
• Motion design or interactive prototyping skills
• Copywriting or creative direction experience
• Familiarity with decentralized systems, agent frameworks, or open-source ecosystems
• Comfort with fast iteration, ambiguity, and high ownership roles
• A unique point of view on where design is heading in the age of AI
