Part-Time Social Media Contractor

Are you a creative, self-motivated social media enthusiast with a passion for storytelling and strategy? Akama is looking for a talented Social Media Contractor to join our team on a part-time basis!

We’re a purpose-driven organisation focused on widening access to education and opportunities for underrepresented communities. Our work is bold, impactful, and growing—and we need someone who can help us tell our story online.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with Akama’s mission and goals
• Plan, create, and schedule engaging content across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, etc.)
• Monitor engagement, respond to messages/comments, and build community online
• Analyse performance metrics and optimise content accordingly
• Work closely with the team to align campaigns with ongoing programmes and events

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience managing social media for a brand or organisation
• Strong understanding of content creation, design tools (e.g. Canva), and platform trends
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and bring fresh ideas
• Passion for social impact, education, and inclusive storytelling

Bonus if you have:

• Experience with social media scheduling tools (e.g. Buffer, Hootsuite)
• Basic graphic design or video editing skills
• Knowledge of or connection to the causes we champion
