Job Description

Posted on: April 11, 2026

A friend of mine has just launched her book and we need an expert web developer and designer to build a clean and modern author website for her. This site must be mobile responsive, visually elegant and designed with User experience and conversion in mind. What difference will you make? This role will play an important part in bringing a newly published book to life online and helping it reach a wider audience. By supporting the development of the author website for Another Me, Another Chance, you will be helping to create a platform where readers can discover the book, connect with the author, and engage with its message. The website will act as a central space to share the story behind the book and make it more accessible to those who need it. Your contribution will directly support the visibility and growth of an emerging author, enabling her work to reach more people and have a greater impact. A well-designed website will not only enhance credibility but also create a meaningful first impression for visitors and potential readers. This is an opportunity to be part of a project that is purpose-driven, where your work will have a clear and lasting outcome. You will be helping to turn an idea into a live platform that supports creativity, storytelling and connection. What are we looking for? We are looking for a volunteer who has some experience in web design and enjoys creating clean, user-friendly websites. The ideal person will be confident using WordPress (Elementor preferred) and able to design and build simple, well-structured pages that work seamlessly across mobile, tablet and desktop. You should have a good eye for layout, spacing and overall design, with the ability to create websites that feel modern, clear and easy to navigate. Previous experience working on personal, academic or portfolio website projects is absolutely fine. More importantly, we are looking for someone who is reliable, communicates well and is able to follow direction while also contributing their own ideas where appropriate. As this is a short-term project, it is important that you are able to commit to completing the work and seeing it through to the end. An understanding of basic user experience (UX) principles and simple SEO structure (such as headings and page titles) would be beneficial, but is not essential. Remote What will you be doing? We are looking for a volunteer web designer to support the design and build of a clean, modern author website for a newly published book. The key focus of this role is to create a simple, elegant and mobile-responsive website that clearly presents the book, the author’s story and encourages visitors to take action. You will be responsible for designing and building core pages including the Home page, About the Author page, Book page and Contact page. The website should be visually appealing, easy to navigate and structured in a way that provides a smooth user experience. You will work with provided content and direction, but we also welcome your creative input in terms of layout, spacing and overall design feel. The goal is not to create a complex website, but to deliver something clean, professional and effective. The website should be built using WordPress (Elementor preferred) and must be fully responsive across mobile, tablet and desktop. We are a small, collaborative setup, so you will be working directly with the project lead, with clear guidance and feedback provided throughout. We are looking for someone reliable who can take ownership of their work and see the project through to completion. We are looking for a volunteer who has some experience in web design and is confident building simple, clean websites.Essential

  • Experience using WordPress (Elementor preferred)
  • Ability to create mobile-responsive websites
  • Good eye for layout, spacing and clean design
  • Ability to follow direction and implement feedback
  • Understanding of user experience (UX)
  • Basic knowledge of SEO structure (headings, page titles)

  • Experience working on portfolio or personal website projects
  • Experience in coding for website builds

  • Good communication and responsive to messages
  • Takes pride in delivering quality work
