Job Description

Posted on: May 3, 2026

Creston Games is an independent studio where the soul of indie development meets the rigor of AAA quality. We're don’t follow the trends, we are a global collective dedicated to hand-crafting evocative experiences that challenge genre conventions and bring something truly new to the medium.

Our philosophy is built on human craft over corporate formulas. We prioritize a "deep work" environment, valuing focus and creative autonomy over endless meetings and bureaucracy. Whether we are building expansive worlds or intimate systems, our mission is to deliver games that feel intentional, high-fidelity, and unmistakably ours.

Currently, we are pushing the boundaries of the cooking genre with a semi-open world project that blends modular urban design with emergent gameplay. If you are looking to leave a mark on a project built with care from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you.

Note: This is a revenue share position, compensation will be based on revenue sharing, rather than an upfront salary.

Job Description:

As a Senior Environment Artist, you will be responsible for defining the visual language of our world. We need an artist who can take a concept from a rough blockout to a fully realized, high-fidelity environment that feels lived-in and stylistically unique.

You will focus on creating modular assets and complex urban spaces that not only look stunning but also serve the systemic needs of our gameplay. Your goal is to build a world where every corner tells a story and every asset contributes to a cohesive, polished experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create high-quality 3D assets, textures, and modular kits that define our stylized urban environments.
  • Transform greybox levels into visually rich and evocative spaces while maintaining the original design's flow and gameplay intent.
  • Sculpt and texture detailed environment props and architectural elements that align with our "AAA indie" aesthetic.
  • Implement and manage environment assets within Unity, ensuring correct scale, collision, and material setup.
  • Utilize vertex painting, decals, and set dressing techniques to add layers of storytelling and history to the world.
  • Work closely with Technical Artists to ensure assets are optimized for performance without sacrificing visual density.
  • Iterate on lighting and atmosphere to enhance the mood and clarity of the game’s various locations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Environment Artist with a strong portfolio showcasing.
  • Mastery of 3D modeling tools (Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max) and texturing suites (Substance Painter/Designer).
  • Expert understanding of high-to-low poly baking workflows and PBR material pipelines.
  • Strong proficiency in Unity, including scene composition, lighting, and terrain tools.
  • An eye for composition, color theory, and architectural logic.
  • A collaborative mindset that thrives in a remote, asynchronous, and "deep work" focused studio.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with organic environment creation (foliage, terrain sculpting).
  • Knowledge of photogrammetry or advanced material blending techniques.

What We Offer:

  • A seat in a creative, international collective of veteran developers.
  • A culture that respects deep work, avoiding unnecessary meetings and bureaucracy.
  • A core role where you earn a direct share of the revenue, ensuring your contribution is reflected in the project's success.
