The Community Transport Association (CTA) is a UK member-based charity providing leadership, training, advice, and operational support to transport-related charities, community groups, and social enterprises across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
We support and advocate on behalf of our members, enabling them to deliver innovative and flexible transport solutions that drive social change and remove transport barriers in their communities.
CTA promotes excellence in the community transport sector through training, resources, publications, advice, events, consultancy, and project support on voluntary, community, and accessible transport. We amplify the collective efforts of community transport providers, helping to build stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable communities through transportation across the UK.
Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Marketing and Events Executive. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you will support the delivery of engaging marketing and communications, execute high-quality events (both virtual and in-person), and help enhance our brand presence across various communication channels.
This role is perfect for someone who is eager to develop their skills in marketing, events, and digital communications while making a tangible impact on our membership and the Community Transport sector.
Key ResponsibilitiesMarketing & Communications
- Support the delivery of day-to-day marketing activities led by the Marketing Manager.
- Create and adapt marketing materials in line with CTA’s brand guidelines using graphic design software (Canva, InDesign, Illustrator) and video editing software (Kapwing, Premiere Pro).
- Draft and schedule written content for our website and social media platforms, and support the planning and coordination of content across channels.
- Help deliver email and outreach campaigns, including testing and list management.
- Maintain and update the CTA website, ensuring timely publishing of news, events, and key updates.
- Support the use of CRM systems by maintaining accurate data and preparing segmented lists for targeted outreach.
- Conduct research on best practices to improve the quality and effectiveness of our marketing efforts
- Monitor marketing performance and contribute insights to inform improvements.
Events Management
- Support the technical setup and execution of online events, ensuring seamless coordination, attendance tracking, and overall experience. This includes managing breakout rooms, technical setup, and event flow on platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- Provide technical support for AV (Audiovisual) at in-person events, ensuring all necessary equipment and systems function smoothly. Liaise with speakers and venues and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure seamless execution.
- Implement standard operating procedures for event execution, including checklists and post-event evaluations to ensure continuous improvement through the implementation of key learnings.
- Ensure the capture and sharing of event photography and social media content with the marketing team to support live coverage and engagement. Ensure timely coordination to maximise visibility and audience interaction.
Project Management & Internal Collaboration
- Maintain workflows in Monday.com, ensuring seamless coordination across teams.
- Support cross-functional collaboration to enhance marketing initiatives and event success.
- Liaise with vendors, sponsors, and external partners to support event-related logistics as needed.
Person SpecificationEssential Skills & Experience
- Passionate and enthusiastic about marketing and events.
- Experience in event planning (including virtual events) and marketing support.
- Proficiency with social media management and digital marketing tools.
- Ability to use Canva or similar design tools to create marketing assets.
- Strong project management skills, with experience using Monday.com or similar tools.
- Knowledge of CRM systems (Civi preferred) for audience engagement and segmentation.
- Excellent copywriting and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills to track and improve event and campaign performance.
- A team player with a proactive, solutions-focused attitude.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a junior marketing role. This could be a marketing assistant, events executive, or account manager role.
- Experience in email marketing strategies and audience testing.
- Basic knowledge of video editing and content creation.
- Experience in press relations and media engagement.
- Understanding of the Community Transport or voluntary sector (preferred but not essential).

- CTA contractual sick pay provides payment in addition to SSP after passing your probation period. Entitlement is first eight weeks at full pay, following eight weeks at half pay.
