Design Director

As BX Studio's Design Director, you will play a crucial role in leading an agency team focused on the creative development of visually compelling and user-friendly websites for our clients. You will work closely with our clients, junior creatives, and the BX Studio team more broadly to conceptualize, design, and implement custom web solutions that meet our clients' objectives and exceed their expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the success of BX Studio's design department, with a focus on both department leadership as well as executional IC work.
• Hire, mentor, and train junior designers. Develop and improve foundational department processes.
• Coordinate department staffing, ensuring all active projects have the right creatives to ensure success.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their brand identity, target audience, and business objectives in order to create customized website designs that resonate with their audience.
• Develop wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to effectively communicate design concepts and user interactions.
• Create visually appealing graphics, icons, and other assets to enhance the overall aesthetic and user experience of websites.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continually improve the quality and innovation of our web designs.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers, fostering their growth and development within the team.
• Work closely with the development team to ensure seamless integration of design elements and functionality.
• Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to iterate and refine designs for optimal user experience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines and milestones are met effectively.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in web design, and 2 years of team management experience with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of successful projects.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD)
• Strong understanding of responsive design principles and best practices for web usability and accessibility.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/jQuery, with the ability to collaborate effectively with developers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present and explain design concepts to clients and team members.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Experience with content management systems (CMS) such as Webflow.
• A passion for creativity, innovation, and staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
