Position: Communication Specialist (Fixed Term Contract _1year)
We are looking for a Communications Specialist who will play a vital role in managing the creation and execution of both internal and external communications for a global change programme. Actively supporting organisational change initiatives by ensuring effective communication strategies and materials are in place. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for enhancing internal and external communication materials and initiatives to ensure clear, effective, and efficient information dissemination. This role involves analysing communication needs, supporting communications plans strategies, and creating content to support programme goals.
Key accountabilities
- Working from the programme’s communication needs deliver the tailored communications plan.
- Support the design, implement, and manage internal and external communication materials.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication delivery.
- Research and adopt new communication technologies and tools.
- Create and distribute communication materials, such as newsletters and web updates. Both project and programme level.
- Collaborate with various working groups to ensure alignment of communication messages.
- Provide awareness and understanding to the programme on communication practices and guidelines.
- Prepare reports on communication performance metrics and recommend improvements.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Proven work experience as a Communications Specialist or similar role
- Experience with communication planning, tools, and artefacts
- Understanding and experience of communications principles, methodologies, and tools
- Proficiency in tools like MS Office, content creation software, and social media platforms.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
- Attention to detail ensuring accuracy in communication materials.
- Experience of working on a global team (desirable)
- Creative design qualification or accreditation (desirable)
- Writing and Editing: Ability to produce clear, compelling, and error-free content across various platforms.
- Data Analysis: Proficiency in evaluating communication metrics and generating actionable insights.
- Digital Tools: Familiarity with content management systems (CMS),SharePoint, social media platforms, and analytics tools.
- Presentation Skills: Capability to create visually appealing and persuasive presentations.
- Graphic Design: Basic knowledge of design software like Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Adaptability: Adjusting communication approaches based on audience feedback.
- Crisis Management: Handling unexpected situations with professionalism and tact.
- Knowledge of Communication Frameworks: Familiarity with methods like the 7 Cs of Communication, storytelling principles, or similar concepts.
