ABOUT THE ROLEAs part of our small, passionate and dynamic team, the Member Support and Guidance role provides timely and professional telephone and email advice to AAPi members on a wide range of professional and practice-related issues. These include but are not limited to:
- Ethical concerns and dilemmas
- Complex client issues (excluding supervision)
- Practice and business management challenges
- Legislative obligations (e.g., privacy, mandatory reporting)
- Regulatory issues including Medicare and third-party requirements
- Professional queries regarding the scope and practice of psychology
- Support with notifications and complaints
This role also contributes to the development of professional resources, member advisories, and guidance material. It is essential that the successful applicant stays current with issues, trends, and changes in legislation or policy that impact the profession.
This is either a full-time or part-time remote role with flexible work arrangements available. Applicants from any location across Australia are encouraged to apply.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIAEssential:
- General registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Significant experience as a practising psychologist
- Broad understanding of different practice settings (e.g., private, public, educational)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High-level interpersonal and rapport-building skills
- Demonstrated service-oriented approach and member focus
Desirable:
- Board Approved Supervisor status
- Knowledge of ethical issues and familiarity with relevant codes and guidelines
- Understanding of regulatory and business issues impacting psychologists
- Experience responding to professional enquiries in a support or advisory role
