I am not a bright man. With all the **leaks** and **rumors** about the **Switch 2** lately, it’s been a lot to keep up with. You’ve seen plenty of the posts here on GN, but I’m only now realizing that I could have made things much easier on you. Rather than hitting you with multiple posts each day, why not cram all the day’s **Switch 2 rumors** into one post? That’s what I’ll be doing from here on out, and here’s what we’ve got for **Jan. 8th, 2025**.

First up, you have the **accessory tease** that you see above. This is a **Switch 2 case** coming from **FUNLAB**, and as you can see, it’s going to take on a **Mario design**. Specifics on the inside of the case and its other features haven’t been revealed yet, but FUNLAB promises that information is coming soon.

We’ve seen this idea floating around for a while now, but leaker extraordinaire **Necro Felipe** is saying he’s received a picture of the Switch 2 from a source he believes to be extremely credible, which included a look at the **Switch 2’s logo**. Felipe then set out to recreate the Switch 2 logo, resulting in the image above.

### Introduction
Japanese robotics startup **Yukai Engineering** has introduced a **portable cat-shaped robot**, **Nékojita FuFu**, designed to blow air and cool down hot food and beverages. This innovative gadget was unveiled at the **Consumer Electronics Show (CES)**.

### What is Nékojita FuFu?
**Nékojita FuFu** is specially crafted for individuals with heat-sensitive tongues, a condition affecting nearly **47%** of the population in Japan. The term "néko-jita" in Japanese refers to a cat tongue, symbolizing a low tolerance for hot food.

The second part of its name, **FuFu**, is an onomatopoeic representation of the sound made when blowing air to cool down food.

### How Does It Work?
Nékojita FuFu operates with an **internal fan** powered by a **rechargeable battery**. It employs a unique algorithm known as the **"Fu-ing System"** to mimic the natural rhythm of human breath. The robot features various blowing modes, including:
- **"I've Got This!"** for full-force air blowing
- **"Not Gonna Spill"** for a gentler approach

This ensures a personalized cooling experience while effectively lowering food and drink temperatures. 

### Versatile and Efficient
Unlike traditional heat-reducing mugs, **Nékojita FuFu** is a **standalone device** that can easily attach to any dishware with a straight edge, making it compatible with various bowls, cups, and mugs. It can cool hot water from **88 to 71 degrees Celsius in three minutes** and down to **66 degrees Celsius in five minutes**.

### Inspiration Behind the Design
The robot was developed during Yukai Engineering's **2024 internal Make-a-Thon**, inspired by a personal story from the company's chief marketing officer, **Tsubasa Tominaga**. Tominaga recalled his struggles with cooling hot baby food for his son, leading to the creation of Nékojita FuFu as a **personal meal partner**.

### Future Plans
Yukai Engineering plans to launch **Nékojita FuFu** in Japan in **mid-2025**, following a crowdfunding campaign. Known for its innovative designs, Yukai has previously received accolades, including the **CES 2023 Innovation Award** for its **BOCCO emo Platform**.

A key figure in **China's** efforts to develop **RISC-V** based processors has announced a potential **2025 release** for a new high-performance chip design. Yungang Bao from the **Institute of Computing Technology** at the Chinese Academy of Sciences shared this news on **Weibo**, suggesting that the project, known as **Xiangshan**, could become a contender in the datacenter market.

The Xiangshan project aims to utilize the **permissively licensed RISC-V ISA** to create a high-performance chip with its **Scala source code** openly available. Bao has compared the ambition of this project to that of **Red Hat** in the Linux space, although he notes that the project has faced development challenges.

Previously, Xiangshan aimed for biannual releases, with the second-generation chip **Nanhu** successfully taped out in late 2023. This chip operated at **2GHz** on a **14nm process node**. The current focus is on the third-generation design, **Kunminghu**, which features an advanced micro-architecture with multiple parallel processing units capable of handling various operations, including integer and floating-point tasks.

The **64-bit RISC-V Kunminghu** aims for high efficiency with designs suggesting **out-of-order execution**, enabling it to scale up to larger devices. The project is reportedly nearing a power consumption gap of less than **8%** compared to Arm's **Neoverse 2** CPU core, which is recommended for cloud and machine learning applications.

Despite some delays, the Xiangshan team continues to optimize the design for area and power consumption, with Bao admitting that the complexity of developing high-end chips has slowed progress. If successful, the project could significantly impact the market by providing an **open-source alternative** to proprietary designs from companies like **Intel** and **AMD**, potentially reducing **China's dependency** on foreign technology.

The project uses the **Mulan PSL-2.0 license**, allowing for a royalty-free, non-exclusive license to modify and distribute the designs, contrasting sharply with traditional licensing models in the industry. This could enable Xiangshan to disrupt the market, much like Linux did in operating systems.

While excitement surrounds the potential of Xiangshan's designs, it may take years for the project to deliver results and encourage developer engagement with the platform. Bao emphasizes that this journey will be long, and the full impact of Xiangshan will unfold over time.
