A Unique Tribute to Milestones
For over 25 years, Horace Lindezey has been creating art at Venture Arts, a studio in Manchester dedicated to working with learning-disabled artists. His collection of ceramic blue plaques is a heartfelt tribute to individuals who have impacted his life, including family, friends, and public figures.
Lindezey focuses on significant life events—births, marriages, and deaths—that resonate with him. He expresses his joy in crafting these plaques, stating, "I feel happy with making the plaques. I roll the clay onto the mould, paint it white, then I put the letters on it. I like showing them in exhibitions, in Blackburn and London. I like to see them out there – they are nice memories of some people that have died."
In addition to his artwork, a limited edition book titled The Blue Plaques is available for ÂŁ25, signed by the artist. This book can be purchased at venturearts.org.
Celebrating Lives
The main image features June Whitfield and others celebrated by Lindezey, captured by photographer Rob Harris. These plaques serve not just as art, but as memorials honoring the memories of those who have passed.
