we are village is a respectful and caring queer community center in Berlin. We provide spaces for individual and collective exchange, self-exploration, healing, expression, play, art, and activism – both online and offline. Our focus is on embodied learning, creativity, and fostering meaningful connections between people.
With we are village – queer matters digital, we are developing an innovative digital ecosystem that redefines community-building for queer people worldwide. This project is more than just traditional outreach—it’s about creating a digital product that connects people and fosters participation in new ways.
To win the queers around the world as users of our product and as members of our community, we are looking for an action oriented Marketing & Communications Manager (40%) who is very driven to meet the set KPIs, understands digital culture, speaks the language of online communities, and can engage diverse audiences.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop and implement both marketing and communication strategies for our digital ecosystem
- Manage online communication, social media presence, and digital community engagement
- Build and maintain online communities through creative, participatory approaches
- Create and curate digital content across various platforms (social media, blogs, newsletters, website)
- Monitor and analyze digital reach and community engagement
- Collaborate with the project team to integrate online community feedback into platform development
Your Profile
- Completed degree or equivalent qualification: You have completed a degree in social sciences, communications, public relations, digital communications, cultural studies, project management, or in a related field
- Working experience: You have at least three years of working experience relevant for the position
- Fluent in digital culture: You think and communicate in digital-first ways, are deeply engaged in online communities, and understand trends, platforms, and digital discourse
- Community builder: You have experience engaging with diverse communities on- and offline and have ideally built networks within the queer scene
- Content creator: You can craft compelling stories and engaging content—from social media posts to strategic campaigns
- Linguistic skills: Native-level English and ideally also German native-level speaker. Having said that: all language skills are a big plus!
- Strategic mindset: You understand how digital communication not only informs but activates and connects people
- Beyond traditional PR: You see communication as an integral part of a digital product and understand how language, interaction, and engagement shape experiences
